London based Hoxton Radio presenters and BFFs Laura and Lara are getting behind the decks at events across the capital as the ‘The Lallas’. Think School Disco meets Sloane Square via a south London squat rave; their eclectic tongue-in-cheek sets combine classic House with a smattering of RnB and Rap, and have been a hit across the board from fashion week to the French Riviera.

The new duo specialises in complete package events. Each set is tailored to their clients’ needs and they won’t leave til the party has peaked.  

The Lallas have already brought their nostalgic retro beats and summer anthems to the Lulu Guinness AW17 Wardrobe Essentials launch, London Fashion Week SS17 launch at The Grooming Room, West Contemporary Gallery Launch, Cannes Film Festival, Monaco Grand Prix and London Men’s Fashion Week 2017 to name a few.

A professional dancer, model, actress and DJ, Mexican born Diana Vizcaya is a superstar in the making. After graduating for the no.1 dance school in Mexico aged 21, she joined a professional dance troupe, and signed as a model and actress in Mexico City. It was here that Diana’s looks, charm and charisma gained the attention of some of the industries biggest players in dance, music, fashion, and film. Her most recent trips to NYC and London only reinforced her global aspirations as a performer,  and the frequent travel for performances affording Diana the opportunity to immerse herself in each cities’ unique culture.

 

Her love and passion for dance and music subsequently fused to start her Djing career, quickly building a name for herself in her own city of San Miguel de Allende, and international recognition soon followed. Although strongly influenced by hip-hop and her Latin roots, her tastes are comprehensive and eclectic, ranging from Funky House to Trap to Electro to Nu-Disco. By keeping her finger on the pulse of current trends and new releases, and engaging the crowd at every occasion with her own signature sound, she creates the party where ever she performs. Now 25, Diana signed to The Bks in early 2016 and it appears the sky is the limit!

Savannah Winters was born into a family of music makers. Her father, a legendary music producer, and her mother, proprietor of one of the hottest record stores who also was known to mix vinyl records.  It is no surprise that Savannah Winters has grown to become one of the top new live spinning DJs. Savannah is a self taught DJ who has a keen ear and has graced the turntables at some of the biggest nightclub venues including Supper Club LA and Up and Down New York. 

Her resume includes working with the hottest entertainers and most notable corporate brands in the world including Kanye West, Nas, Neyo,  The Voice on NBC, Disney Channel, Moet Chandon, Adidas, Steve Madden, Buzzfeed, Sanrio, the National Football League and the National Basketball Association just to name a few. Savannah has been featured in television shows, national ad campaigns, and international concert tours garnering exposure and respect around the world.

Episode 10 - Jess Skye 'ADE Amsterdam Special' Mix by Will Smith

This weeks mix, being the 10th episode of our The Books Podcast, is a special one. It also being the week for the legendary Amsterdam ADE festival we bring you a awesome ADE inspired mix by London's finest Jess Skye.

Lisbon’s own Von Di Carlo has worked early on as a music producer with support from top portuguese main acts such as Branko, Xinobi, Buraka Som Sistema, Karetus, Kura, Blaya among many others as well as international acts such as Thomas Gold, Chuckie, Adrian Lux, Quentin Mosiman, to name a few. Now working full time as a producer, writer and DJ. She has had radio shows regularly on major portuguese FM radios since she was 17. 

Von Di Carlo’s unique taste for a variety of genres (Progressive House, EDM, House, UK, Trap, Hip Hop, Jersey) allows her to make an interesting set.  Having already played every major club in Portugal and recently having had a beach tour commissioned by MTV makes Von Di Carlo the perfect candidate for shows all around the globe.

“Re-inventing Original” and “One to Watch” are some of the comments being thrown about Rhyme in her current home town of Sydney, Australia. Newly Signed with NYC based Manager Sam Li with plans to move to the States to further develop her sound in the S/S 2016 is looking promising as her career in music starts to take off... literally.

Daughter of Aussie Rock Legend Richard Lara (of The Screaming Jets), Rhyme’s rock n roll roots are plain to see in the music she plays and the atmosphere shecreates, headlining regularly at Middlebar, El Topo, Bucketlist & Harpoon Harrys. Not one to be pigeon holed however,
Rhyme’s DJ sets and love for music isn’t limited by genres, and she isn’t afraid to throw a few curveballs to keep a crowd on their toes.  

As a travelling model she has been exposed to and influenced by a variety of sounds, from Shanghai’s underground trap/techno to Los Angeles old school rock and hip hop scene even to Bali’s fun light Island tropical house/disco music scene. But, Not content with just listening to what was going on around her, Rhyme networked herself into securing gigs at major clubs in these cities djing at MYST (Shanghai) and STRAWHUT (Bali). Her most recent trips to NY and LA have only reinforced her global aspirations as a performer, landing a gig at LA's new funk rooftop bar EP.LP Club and signing with NYC based manager Sam Li as a HOS Artist upon her visit from meeting in China 2 years prior.

Equal parts Model and DJ, Eve Speciall is the fashion industry's musical muse. As a successful model in her own right (Eve has been featured in Harper's Bazaar, Cosmopolitan, Elle and Grazia), she uses her experience in front of the crowd to create the audio vibes for an impressive who’s-who of global fashion & luxury brands. Clients include Givenchy, Dolce & Gabbana, Chloe, Miu Miu, Levi's, Ports 1961, Veuve Clicquot, Christian Louboutin, Topshop (HK, LA, Singapore),  3.1 Philip Lim and Ksubi.

Speciall has been Music Director for Hong Kong Fashion Week for the past 4 years, as well as curating the music for award winning HK Urban Spa; Flawless. She has supported acts such as Mykki Blanco, Samantha Ronson, Just Blaze, Thugli, Bixel Boys and the Klaxons and performed alongside Demi Lovato for Topshop’s LA opening at the Grove. Lulu James - originally from Newcastle, now Hackney Wick resident… signed to Sony records at the age of 21 and released records on Black butter (home of Rudimental, Kidnap kid, Jess glynne etc).  She has collaborated with Jon Hopkins, Lane 8,  Moonboots, 2inchpunch and many more on her music; has been touring the world with Gorgon City; and has received huge support from the likes of Annie Mac, Lauren laverne, Pitchfork and more.  She was asked to play Jools Holland, Glastonbury amongst her own headline tour across Europe and the UK. Still only 25 …she is one to watch. Her debut album will be coming in 2016.  Lulu's eclectic music taste means she is often in demand for DJ sets and can be spotted spinning at some of the coolest events around the globe.

Born Cachee Livingston, the Brooklyn native has a background as a fashion publicist, but found her passion when she started DJing for  musician Kilo Kish. 

Her style is not limited to one genre, but instead can be characteristic of a certain vibe, bringing together an eclectic audience. She blends everything from R&B to electronic, disco to Hip-Hop, adorning her sonic canvas with a hazy, love inspired atmosphere. Her live sets can feature anything from Sade to Young Thug, depending on what kind of mood you catch her in.

Her influence extends beyond her own works as well. As a trusted source for up and coming music, art and style, she acts as a guest editor for the Huffington Post. Her “Love The Free” mix series has garnered particular acclaim across fashion, art, tech, and film. Boasting selective original music from some of the best rising artists, such as Willow Smith, Sampha, Vic Mensa, Jesse Boykins III, Dev Hynes, Kelela, SZA, Rome Fortune, and many others.

Episode 2 - Fafa Khan 'The Glory Mix' by Will Smith

The Bks - history's first all female DJ collective - brings you a fresh new mix every week from one of our superstar DJs. This first episode is courtesy of Fafa Khan from Montreal.

Meet Fafa Khan a sought after, international DJ. At 18 years old, she began performing and holding residencies in her hometown of Montreal. Hailing of Japanese, Pakistani and Finnish descent, she spins the coolest tunes from Hip Hop to House. 

Fafa has modeled for many renowned brands and has spun along side tastemakers like Cash Cash, Paris & Simo, Sunnery James, Wale, Drake, Timbaland and many more, in clubs and during festivals such as Electro Beach Fest: PV Mexico, Mural Festival and events for Belvedere, Moet & Chandon, Buonanotte, The Beat 92.5 Radio, Virgin Radio and many more.  Fafa is currently sharpening her production skills and will be releasing original music in the near future.

Named the "Hottest DJ at Fashion Week" by the New York Post, Coco was always drawn to all things music and media. A Greenwich, CT native, Coco pursued that passion while at New York University, where she received her bachelor's degree in Music and Entertainment Business. 

Since first stepping up to the decks at age seventeen, Coco has had the privilege of spinning in cities from Beverly Hills to Buenos Aires. Her recent clientele includes TRU Hollywood, Bally Swiss, Victoria's Secret, Whitewall Magazine, Libertine London, The New York City Ballet and SPACE Florence. She has been profiled by publications including the New York Post, Metro, and Untitled Magazine.

Today, deejaying is just the beginning for Coco. She has been featured in videos for artists such as Johnny Polygon, SchoolBoy Q and A$AP Rocky, modeled for clients including COACH, Seventeen Magazine and Foot Locker, and worked with brands including Haute Hippie and Nicole Miller.
